Hey,Hong Kong is just the bees knees. Free wi fi connection in the airport - heathrow look and learn- and immaculately clean (yes, old lady comment but wonderful none the less!). The view of the city as we landed was awesome - soaring, delicate high risers clustered on the flat land next to the sea. So densely urbanised- Jords, there's a field trip here waiting to happen.
Just a trifle disconcerting as the plane skimmed the sea with, seemingly, no land in sight- the runway strip rearing out of the waves at the last moment. For anyone wanting to fly, Air NZ is amazing. Wonderful crew, smooth up and down bits and barely a bump on landing.Thought of Alex, Gillian and how great it would be to see him at the controls! Flight almost marred by being behind very vociferous angry toddler but managed to change seats so were on the back row like the poker playing bad boys at school. I slept for 6 hours with barely a break - the air cushion was perfect, Annie.John didn't sleep at all so it's industrial strength herbal tablets for him on the next leg.am loving the iPad and Kindle ( am embracing the 21st century with gusto having been dragged here kicking and screaming by lovely daughters and Nick- all that prep work you did Nick has surely paid off). @lisyte
Listened to Bruce's Wrecking Ball en route -Jordie, you are a star) and now going to catch up on the drawing game with Viv- how small the world is with technology. Loads of interesting people to watch- young guy on plane who wears a top hat, people of all sorts to wonder about.
Now on to next 12 hour leg - may get to watch a film all the way through this time!its 28 degrees here- basking weather.
Loads of love to you all and big hugs xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxPs all instructions on screen are in Chinese so just guessing .............

Missing you guys loads...sat at home on the sofa with a snoring Marley draped across my lap having actually hoovered my bedroom. Yes, I did write that, you are not hallucinating.
ReplyDeleteSo glad to hear you touched down, down under. Can't wait for your adventures to start properly unfurling... Very jealous you got to touch down in Hong Kong (think of my scratch map...) and so proud of you mum for turning into such a technology guru. You'll come back embarrassed at my lack of understanding of Wi-fi spots blogging know-how...
John- can understand your lack of sleep. Your body won't know what to do with itself because you probably stayed up past 10.30pm.....big step :) I joke...kind of.
Imagining you two having a good giggle at something or another - a clue in a crossword or a memory of that car journey when I asked John if he knew where Broomhill was and you (mum) sid 'I DO' like it was a million pound question on a games show. As Billy would say 'John and Mags, there a right pair'.
Sending all my love to the moon and back, and I'm pretty sure Marls would even go as far as to give up a biscuit or two to have you back.
